Brunette TV host: These 100 grams of nylon make your legs look perfect!

Psychologist Oksana Nikitina: “The woman wearing pantyhose has a closed personality, it is like so called chastity belt. The woman wearing stockings has an open personality. Men react not only to pantyhose and stockings but how the woman carries herself”.

Brunette TV host: “A woman uses more than 240 pairs of pantyhose during the year and to save them you should know more about this nylon miracle.” [Even though this is said in the show, it doesn’t seem to be true.]

Director of hosiery factory Maxim Kuzmenko: “Here we have very big range of pantyhose and they all consist of polyamide and elasthane threads. The comfort, price and so on depend on the quantitative composition of these two these yarns.”

Hosiery Selection at a Store

Brunette TV host: “6 km of thread and 3 million of stitches are used to manufacture a pair of tights. There are thick or thin tights the, difference is only in deniers. So what is it and how to find out what deniers are?”

Director of hosiery factory Maxim Kuzmenko: “The thicker thread that is delivered, the thicker the manufactured product.”

Brunette TV host: “The price depends on the denier and whether the product is produced by a foreign or by a Ukrainian (local) factory.”

Brunette TV host: “There is plenty of variety in stores in our capital.”

Brunette TV host: “Wow, pantyhose are one of the fantastic things of 20th century. They make you slimmer and have no disadvantages.”

Colour can cause skin allergies

Dermatologist Yury Opanasenko: “It is advisable not to wear pantyhose during the warm days of the year because they increase moisture content of the skin and this can lead to frequent infections for women, known as yeast. Colorful tights cause allergies and can provoke eczema and some other dermatitis.”

Brunette TV host: “Ok, I won’t wear them very often. But any way tights often rip and tear.”

Marketing Director Nataliya Yesliuk: “Pantyhose are a very delicate item, so it means they need special treatment. Usually, all manufacturers indicate laundry instructions on the packing. Generally, the washing temperature should not be more than 30 degrees and also there are many washing detergents for hosiery such as special shampoos and many others.”

Horse in Nylon Socks – What For?

hosiery, pantyhose, nylon, horse, legs, protection, healing, flies, fly, bugs, insects

This horse is wearing nylon socks for a very practical reason.

You may see this horse in nylon socks and wonder if this is a prank. Or, is this an attempt to start a new “trend” like those poor canines in Asia wearing pantyhose because of some immature teen’s experiment?

No!  Not at all.

Turns out that this is actually a method to keep the flies off the healing wounds on horse’s legs.  For whatever reason this animal has abrasions or something of this sort on the lower legs and needs to keep it infection-free.

If you own a horse, keep this in mind and don’t throw out your old torn pantyhose.  You may need it to protect your horse’s skin from the bugs.

Interview: Anne Atkinson, Classic / Mature Model

I would like to introduce Anne Atkinson, a UK-based mature model who has an excellent portfolio of fashion and lingerie photos.  She agreed to answer a few questions about her life and career.

Q: It’s very interesting to see a woman who works as a model beyond
the age of 25.  I’ve heard before that for commercial photoshoots all
different age groups were in demand just so that the companies could
appeal to various age groups.  Do you feel that being a mature model
you have less competition than all the 21-year-olds running from
casting to casting?

A: In my age group there are fewer models with what seems to be a greater variety of looks for different types of shoots. However, getting paid work is harder as there seem to be fewer opportunities, so I have been working on generating some ideas of my own to work on.

Q: Some people say that modeling is fun.  Do you agree?  I personally
see it as work that is physically and mentally demanding, at least
based on my own experience.

A: While modelling can be very physically and mentally demanding, it can also be good fun. It’s good to be able to develop a rapport with the photographer and exchange a few jokes. I prefer not to take myself TO seriously but I feel I have to give the job everything I’ve got.

It’s important to keep fit and eat healthily though, so modelling isn’t just about turning up for jobs but also about maintaining a healthy approach to life all the time. It’s important also to bring ideas of your own to a shoot. The photographers appreciate your input and generating creative ideas adds to the enjoyment of the job.

Q: Have you ever thought of starting your own modelling agency?

A: Starting a modelling agency is not something I have thought of. I would think it would be very hard to get started in what is quite an uncertain area of business.

Q: What are your thoughts about parents putting their kids in modeling
and beauty pageants at an early age?  If it would be up to you, would
you put a certain age minimum on that?

A: When my sons were younger, as they were both attractive children, it crossed my mind to try and get them into the child modelling world. I think parents need to think very carefully about what it could involve and make sure that the child’s happiness and welfare is always foremost.

I have sometimes been concerned that some parents are fulfilling a need of their own and maybe forget to think too deeply about the welfare of the child. I certainly think the child beauty pageants are wrong on many levels. They can give a child an unrealistic set of values and could even lead to problems of self esteem as they get older.

Having said all this, there are obviously children who love all the attention, the opportunities to dress up etc. With the proper safeguards, (including proper checks from outside agencies) I think it can be OK.

Q: Great to see that you enjoy lingerie.  Do you have any favourite
lingerie outfits that you would like to share with us?

A: I enjoy posing in lingerie but, being older, there are areas of my body that I prefer to keep covered. So my favourite types of lingerie are usually items such as bodies, teddies and corsets. One of my favourites is this one (displayed below) – the frill and the different materials accentuates my figure and makes me feel sexy.

What My Grandpa Thinks about Bare Legs in Winter

woman walking in sheer pantyhose in the snow

Freezing my feet off in cold weather is a dangerous thing for me.  I know, if I prance around in some fancy summer heels and light pantyhose in winter, next day I’ll be down with some serious health problems in the private sector that may linger for a long time afterwards.

How do I know this if I never tried it?  Well, that’s what I’ve been told over and over when I was growing up by my Grandma.  As a child, I would come back from a walk outdoors in winter, she would take off my shoes and feel my feet.  If my feet were cold, she would panic.  She passed away last year and I miss her dearly, we were very close.

I called up my grandfather and decided to ask him about this.

Me: Grandpa, women here go with bare legs in winter.

Grandpa: When I was little, we had neighbours who went practically barefoot.  They had a large family and no money to buy clothing.

Me: Well, the women here simply don’t want to bother to wear pantyhose.  I see them in dresses and bare legs on the subway.

Grandpa: I also recently saw a homeless guy in the subway with pants that had holes in them.  Really, these days people throw clothes in the dumpster.  Can’t he find pants without holes there?

Me: Look, the women here just don’t want to wear anything on their legs.  They don’t think that it can affect their health.

Grandpa: Oh, common, they have plenty of clothes in North America!  Why would they go bare-legged if there is plenty of clothing?

 ***

No matter how I tried to explain that these women are making a conscious choice to go with bare legs, my grandpa couldn’t grasp this bizarre idea.  To him poverty was the only explanation to bare legs in cold weather.

 ***

Me: Grandpa, I remember Grandma used to tell me to keep my legs warm, especially everything below the knee.  She told me that if the feet get chilled, it will lead to gynaecological problems.

Grandpa: Not only!  It’s bad for both men and women.  Grandma knew everything about that.

Me: How do you know this?  Did you read this somewhere or is this some kind of wisdom passed down from the ancestors?

Grandpa: It’s common knowledge that areas on your feet correspond to your other bodyparts like liver, kidneys, and so on.  Don’t you have Vietnamese people there in Vancouver?  Ask them, their Eastern Medicine is progressive.

There is a notion in some parts of Europe and some parts of Asia about the concept of feet being connected to other forms in a person’s body.  I guess that what you consider this to be depends on where you reside.

If you are North American, you may think of this as nonsense.  If you are in a place like Hungary, let’s say, you may think of this as common truth that everyone knows.

Thus, if you are from the States or Canada, just forget everything you read above.

Go ahead, start your day, but please wear your pantyhose anyway!

Chinese Airlines hold Flight Attendant Competition

In these photos you can see how Xiamen Airline hires air hostesses.  It is very common in China to have such a tough interview to choose flight attendants.  Does this look like a beauty competition to you or like a test for the army?  They check these girls to the teeth, literally!  Also, in some cases flight attendants need to learn Kung Fu in order to keep their job.

There is a whole entertainment show around it where girls compete and show off their talents like singing.

I would also like to say that I recently got to interview a flight attendant about hosiery for Finn Magazine  (stands for Feet IN Nylon).  My article is going to be in their next issue that is going to be out in December and I am very proud of that.  You can subscribe for their next issue here – www.finnmagazine.com

Friends, I apoligize that I am not able to present more information, but most of information on this topic is in Chinese and I was not able to find anyone who speaks it and who would volunteer their time to run a Google search.  Tried, 4 times.  One of my distant acquaintances, who I’d rather not inform too much about my blog, helped to translate the title  on the banner in these photos – Xiamen Airlines Hires Air Hostesses.  At least that helped me a little bit with research.  If for some reason you are able to add more to this, please drop me an e-mail.  Thanks!

Images below are from Bejing Airlines:

Update: I managed to find a Chinese person to help me!  She found what I was looking for immediately as soon as she typed in the keywords in Chinese.  The sad part is that she wasn’t long around to translate.

Charnos National Stockings Day – UK

National Stockings Day – October 19, 2012

I saw this on another website (lingerie buyer UK) and decided to pass it on, since I am sure that all of our readers know someone they care about who’s been affected by cancer.

Charnos hosiery came up with an international stockings day as a way to show their support for breast cancer in October.

Do you wonder why stockings?  Well, that’s a very feminine statement and breast cancer unfortunately affects a woman in a way that is most vulnerable to her femininity.

Fetish and Dating advice from Juicy Life

I had a pleasure to talk about dating with a sexual health educator, Jane Langton, from a Juicy Life.  She is a friendly person with a modern outlook on sexuality.  I decided to ask her about common questions that I get through this blog.

Since this blog is about hosiery, we get a lot of male visitors who have a fetish for pantyhose or stockings and are sometimes afraid to admit to it when they start dating.

Due to the nature of the garment, most of hosiery fetishists are male, but advice given in this article is applicable to any gender.

When is it best to tell the partner about your sexual preferences and fetishes, right away or when there is already a deep emotional attachment?  Sometimes I get people telling me that their wife does not want to share their sexual preferences and that causes a lot of tension in the family.

 Jane’s Answer:

It is more challenging to introduce something that is considered by some as kinky later on in the relationship.  We don’t always have the courage to tell our partner who we really are, so we open up later.

Don’t be upset if the partner is not comfortable with this new addition to your repertoire, because you didn’t tell them upfront about your preference.  Be mindful of their thoughts and put yourself in their shoes.

Being honest is important.  If your partner is committed to being with you, you can take it slowly and introduce things, create a way to express your fetish in a way that appeals to both of you.Checking in along the way. Explore together.

Take small steps.  It also helps to do research together. It can be fear preventing  your partner from saying “yes” to something out of their comfort zone.  They don’t know what it means if their male partner is wearing stockings.

In fact, it doesn’t mean anything.  It is exploration, role-playing, and it’s normal.  It doesn’t imply their sexuality or gender at all.  For example, look at the Kinsey scale that was created by Albert Kinsey in 1948 to represent sexuality, 0 being heterosexual and 6 being homosexual.  According to Kinsey many of us are between 1 and 5 and not are not 0 or 6!  Also, within our lifetime, we will change. Our preferences will change.  So do your best to be honest with your partner early on in your relationship and most importantly have fun!

Please visit Jane’s website for more information about her.  She has a free newsletter and an online store full of fun products for your bedroom.  Even though she is Vancouver based, she offers virtual sessions over skype or phone to people from other areas.

___________________________________________________________________________

I asked for an opinion from men who have a fetish and it looked like all of them (those who answered me, of course) agreed with Jane about honesty being the best policy.  Here is what they said.

What do you think?  Do you tell your partner about your sexual preferences upfront?  Can our peers offer some dating advice?

Gentleman A

To me it just seems like common sense. If you’re trying to be in a stable relationship, 100% honesty is key. If you’re just in it for the sex… well, it’s only logical to admit to a fetish.  Either way it’s not only a good idea to be up front, it’s quite important to.

I told my wife about my fetishes (I have foot fetish as well as a pantyhose fetish) early on when we were dating.  She wasn’t put off at all; she was rather intrigued by it.  She asked me questions and I was open and honest. Our sex life was better off for it, as was our emotional attachment to each other.

Gentleman B

Your relationship with a particular woman needs to be honest and sincere. Your true feelings for her – (sexually and non sexually) need and should come first!  Early on your dating/courtship, it should surface. Don’t be forceful, rude, or anything like that. From her point of view, a pantyhose fetish can be welcomed, as long as it’s not extreme.  Good luck.

 Gentleman C

I have always expressed it within the first couple of dates.  Never had anyone freak out or leave me because of it.  Most are really accepting.

 Gentleman D

You’d be surprised of the number of ladies I’ve dated and shared my fetish and love of pantyhose on women. I’d usually tell them about it, right after the first sexual encounter.
I learned early:  first satisfy a women in bed and she’ll be most willing to satisfy your every wish.  Within reason, of course.  When sharing my fetish, many were aroused by the thought and some had some kinky wishes, too.  I’ve never had any bad experiences in sharing this with women I’ve dated.  All in all, it’s been a lot of fun and I’d do it all again.

 Gentleman E

As long as you trust her, have genuine feelings for her and truly want be with her and she feels the same way about you, by all means tell her about your fetish before it’s too late. Not when proposing or after marriage. Common sense prevails.

 Gentleman F

I’m upfront with the women I date, and they all are fine with it. Best to be honest with them about it, and if they like you, then they would be more than happy to wear pantyhose for you.

Cuban chambermaids in hosiery despite the heat – Controversy

Every time I am in Cuba, I am surprised to see female hotel staff wear hosiery at all times despite the heat with closed toe shoes.  If I’d have that job, I probably wouldn’t be able to take it anymore and would go ahead and jump in the pool.

A model is posing in a maid outfit near the pool. Courtesy of WamInStyle team.

Just recently one of the women I know returned from Cuba and that was the first thing she mentioned to me, knowing about my hosiery obsession.

To my surprise Cuban staff wear hosiery, but not basic plain.  They all seemed to show off with a variety of patterned tights.  Not only that they wear it, they put effort to draw attention.

I also visited Dominican Republic and Mexico, but their staff go with bare legs.  Only Cuba seems to maintain such high dress code standard.

I can’t really say if I like the idea despire my love for hosiery.  To me clothes should not jeopardize one’s health.  At temperatures soaring close to 40 Celsius wearing synthetic fabrics may lead to skin irritation, fungus infection, and to additional female problems.

Once I was walking all stylish in the heat of the Middle East and the next day ended up with an excema-like rash on my skin.  Locals confirmed that this is what happens to them too if they don’t dress smartly in such heat.

Do you think that pantyhose should still be enforced in extreme heat?  I would probably suggest in summer months to wear fine fishnet stockings (no silicon lining) with a garter belt in order to both look stylish and not feel too hot.
