Slava Zaitsev, Ethnic Colour Explosion

Slava Zaitsev Spring 2017 collection Russian ethnic costumes

Recently I have read a post about successful celebrities. The author was insisting that for success just talent isn’t enough. One shall have a proper background, implying that his or her parents were able to invest in the child’s development. Otherwise, doesn’t matter how talented the child is, he or she will be a failure.

While watching this fashion show, I was thinking to myself: “Yes, in this case the post author was 100% right, creating such stylish outfits would be impossible if Slava had poor parents… Taste and this fine feeling of beauty and elegance do not come from nowhere.” The diversity of his outfits, most of which could serve as an icon of style and elegance, inspired me to read little bit more about the designer, Slava Zaitsev.

I was amazed and to some extent shocked: his mother was a usual housewife, and she has never had any beautiful clothes. Actually, that is why Slava creates such looks, rich and elegant, to somehow compensate for that mum`s feeling of, probably pain and hope that once at least her child will be able to have what she couldn’t afford. Inspired by richness and brightness of Russian national colours, Slava creates masterpieces (yes, and I am not afraid of using this word!) that can be worn in everyday live and for women of all sizes. Each of his creations is well-balanced, elegant and distinctive at the same time.

I am not a fan of red colour, I practically never wear it because my shyness dampens the joy, even if this of high quality and of truly elegant style. My mum always taught me never to wear everything of the same colour.

Perhaps I am too old school? If I would be a celebrity, like a famous TV host let’s say, I’d probably easily flaunt something like this in front of the paparazzi, with an expensive car to match. That would be a real gutsy statement!

A row of models dressed in white parade down the catwalk in crisp white tights and nostalgic hats. I would say, elegance is a key word to all looks created by this designer.

Any shade of pink is quite a controversial colour. These outfits, however, show this shade in a different light, rather not connected with all the Barbie glamour, but with the elegance of a mature lady that isn’t afraid of experiments. Confident and yet charming.

Slava Zaitsev Spring 2017 collection Russian checkered gingham skirt

This skirt would look equally nice on a slim woman and on a fuller figured woman or a woman coming from a cultural background that requires full body coverage (ex. Chechen republic). Slava Zaitsev is famous for also creating clothes for women who are “just bigger than average”. His work is very versatile, he even designed athlete’s uniforms for 1980s Moscow Olympic games.

Here is a one more casual style for the ladies with fuller figures, it accentuates the feminine lines. It would, in my opinion, be more interesting to see an actual plus size model wear something like this to show women of all sizes that it is not difficult to select good styles for their shape.

Wait a second here, what a daring design, but didn’t my mum teach me not to wear more than three colours at once? I would like to get a better look at the dress underneath the jacket because this orange/black combination with stripes on the side seems pretty cool.

Slava’s designs show a lot of cultural roots to them. He uses very unusual combination of accessories, scarves, and so on to create his looks.

Slava Zaitsev Spring 2017 collection Russian blue and gold outfit

Here is a luxury mix of royal blue and gold.  Hosiery matches the rest of the outfit and adds a special elegant touch as if it is a business lady heading to some artistic exhibition.

Here is another example of a dress that would be appropriate for a woman with a fuller figure. The head piece is pretty avant-garde in my opinion, but it nicely finishes this whole Mongolian-like concept.

What a classic colour combination – red and black, with mesh for elegance. Romantic and mysterious, but so different from the rest of the collection.

In my opinion Slava Zaitsev has his own unique signature, just like the iconic Dior and Chanel who were his inspirations. His designs are so well composed that they don’t require any cheap shock factors in order be remembered.

Balenciaga designs at Paris Fashion Week set some legwear trends

All the lovers of tight pants are just going to love this. Balenciaga, a French designer label, put out some models on the runway wearing tight shoe pants (as the tights are actually attached to the shoes) and spandex.

Some writers refer to these designs as fetishistic because of the tightness of the garments. It does make sense, especially by having the shoes made out of the same shade and fabric as the pants, an illusion of super long legs is created.

I read up a little bit on the founder of this almost a 100 year old label. Cristobal Balenciaga started out nicely, but then had to close his boutiques because of war. Obviously this didn’t stop him from making a come back. Just think about it for a minute, whatever obstacles our modern entrepreneurs are faced with are nothing like what he had. I guess that those who are meant to survive somehow will, no matter what walls keep them out.

Knee socks worn over Pantyhose – Opinions?

I saw this photo online, not sure what year it is from… it’s a Russian young designer competition. The model here is clearly wearing sheer black pantyhose with black knee high socks over it. First of all, it’s already progress to see pantyhose on the runway, so let’s give them some credit.

What do you think though about these knee high socks over pantyhose, is it too much? To me somehow there is not enough contrast. Whenever something is layered like this, I always want to see different colours playing together.

Let me know your opinions! I am curious to hear what you say about this.

Some More Seamless Pantyhose on the Catwalk, Golden Lady 2016 show for Textillegprom in Moscow

Here are some more photos I found of the seamless pantyhose fashion show that was hosted for fall collection of 2016 in Moscow. These are styles by Golden Lady, featured at the Textillegprom Federal Trade Fair, and I am amazed that they are both SEAMLESS and PATTERNED! I didn’t see this before from any other brand and in my eyes this is a true innovation.

These photos are taken by Alexander Zhuravlev just like the previous set and the original website is on the watermarks on the photos. Enjoy the pictures!

Golden Lady Fashion Show – Seamless Pantyhose on the Runway

I saw these amazing photos on one of the ethnic pantyhose forums and they are taken by Alexander Zhuravlev, the website is in the watermark on the images. This was a fashion show from 2016 for Golden Lady and they were showing “Rock My Legs” collection of seamless pantyhose.

I am thrilled to see this nice white shade, however I haven’t seen it available for sale. Currently I am clearing out some Golden Lady 20 den seamless and Golden Lady 40 den seamless styles called My Secret. They are very popular, but kind of hard to get, I need to go through a Polish supplier and I know that they make me wait for a long time because they are ordering it from somewhere (likely Russia) themselves. It’s just not efficient, I prefer to continue working with factories directly and I wasn’t able to get a response from Golden Lady to open a wholesale account.

I also noticed that there were pink sheer seamless pantyhose in that show and even some seamless pantyhose with polka dot patterns. I haven’t seen those before! My suspicion is that they were made for that fashion show only.

Fishnet tights & socks are in fashion for Spring 2017

Lately I had many inquiries about fishnet socks, especially short ankle ones. There seems to be a trend on the runway to wear anything fishnet, like tops and tights.

Here is one of my photos from Instagram, taken recently, of my legs in fancy fishnet tights. It’s not a new pair, but all the sudden I feel more fashionable about wearing it.

Men in daring tights on the runway

Does anybody know which show this was? I just saw it in the blog section of a hosiery manufacturer, but I am positive the tights are not even from them.

These are some really bold colours these boys are wearing! Based on the styling, I’d guess that these are designs inspired by some medieval decades when a man without stockings would be a man without any status.

Models in Stockings at Dolce Amore Fashion Show

This weekend I came to a fashion show and managed to see a little of it before I ventured backstage to help the girls with their outfits.  If I manage to snatch a few more photos from that show of models in stockings from other photographers, I’ll post.

Fashion shows are very stressful and usually there are assistants to help with the outfits.  If a model needs to quickly change from one outfit to another, she may not have a chance to attach the garter belt or to align the backseam.

This show was done by Dolce Amore Lingerie Boutique in Vancouver.

Germany Next Top Hosiery Model Competition

Germany Next Top Model Challenge

Germany Next Top Model Challenge

I found this fun segment on Youtube.  It looks like these models had a pantyhose fashion assignment!  Which one of them will be the alpha hosiery model?  Which one has the best imagination and legs to go with it?

Are these random shots of models who happen to wear pantyhose or is this really a fashion challenge?  I am trying to find the full version of this video, so if anyone can help to locate this divine hosiery model material, I’ll be so grateful.  There are some references online to this saying that Heidi Klum was one of the judges.

A native German speaker translated for me the two sentences that we hear the models say: “You may get used to these clothes…” and “I was glad that the body covered my butt cheeks”.  He is pretty sure that it was an assignment to present pantyhose.  Seriously, they have bikini contests, why not have hosiery contests?

Perhaps modeling pantyhose is a challenging assignment just because it is not a common garment to be shown off like that.  Garter belts and stockings are so common that you can see them on any poster, but pantyhose, especially without a skirt, is a different topic because it is not as abundantly displayed. The job of a hosiery model is not easy since she needs to present a garment in an attractive way without looking vulgar or too suggestive.
