No More Google Ads on Fantasy Stockings

May 17, 2013 under News

Dear friends, I would like to give you an update about Fantasy Stockings.  As you may notice, there are some changes taking place on this website and you may be curious to know about it.

Fantasy Stockings no longer runs Google Adsense advertisement (or ads generated by any other pay per click network) on the blog posts.  In general that means that user experience will be greatly improved.

Perhaps this was not really the way it was planned by me.  I was hoping that by having Google Adsense on my blog I would be able to generate some funds in order to maintain this blog.  Just a few days ago Google Adsense disqualified Fantasy Stocking due to an article published about a male fashion model wearing hosiery.

As I obviously would not want to limit myself with the content published on my blog, I am transferring to another way of operating without being limited with what topics I can publicly discuss here.  I knew this would happen some day, so I had a back up option ready to launch waiting, as a source of funding instead of Google ads.

For this reason this website is taking a dual form.  It is partially a blog, partially an online shop for popular Polish brands like Gatta, Gabriella, Fiore, and perhaps soon I can introduce some like Sesto Senso, Ballerina, Intrigo, and Mona (Tespol).

You are welcome to browse my initial selection at the Shop Section.

What funds this blog?

UPDATE:  The only funding now comes from the SHOP section.  But here’s the ancient info anyway when I tried to keep this non-commercial.

…. long long time ago before Google changed it’s mind

My friends, it’s just a reminder that the only major source of funding for this blog is the advertisement from Google.  I get people asking me all the time something like “Can you really make money from this?”.

Let’s just say, not much money at all when you consider the work put in.  However, it does help to cover some costs and the time it takes to research and write.

Of course, main thing is traffic.  More hits means more earnings from the advertisement.  At the moment I’d say that 50% of my traffic comes from organic Google search and the other 50% comes from forums.  After I’ve done some SEO tricks, my organic traffic doubled.

Please be kind to the sponsor ads and see what they have to offer.  If you are part of some online communities that may be interested in the topics I write about, please feel free to share the link.
