Pantyhose as a Gift – Appropriate or Not?

hosiery-and-gifts

Some gifts from a fan. Yes, pantyhose were inside too!

Just recently a woman mentioned to me that she’s planning to give some fun pantyhose to her friends as gifts for the holidays. Is it a good idea?

Turns out that according to the European etiquette, pantyhose are not considered to be an undergarment. It is a luxury item. Thus, they are perfectly fine to give as gifts. I had that opinion all my life anyway!

When it comes to stockings / stay ups, I think it’s OK to give it to people you know pretty well. Strangers may see something sexual in it, contrary to the fact that a lot of women wear stay ups daily just to cover their legs at work.

Occasion also matters! I’ve read that queen Elizabeth II got 100 stockings as a wedding gift. That was a very luxurious gift, based on the scarcity of the garment.

I am going to a Christmas party in December and I thought to bring pantyhose for all the ladies there, but then I figured I’d rather bring knee socks and ankle socks instead. I have no way of knowing what size those women are and I’d rather not guess or ask the hostess to guess.

Pantyhose is A Perfect Gift

mock suspender tights

This pair of mock suspender tights was sent to me as a gift by a fan for Christmas.  I wore it on my way to my mini-vacation in Victoria with a knee-high dress.  For this photo I pulled the dress up, obviously, to show off the design.

I think probably a couple of passengers got a sneak peak at also on the ferry while I was sleeping on the seat at that mock stocking pattern.  At least I caught a few looks when I got up to adjust my dress.

Merry Christmas!

stockings and lingerie

I had a wonderful Christmas day with my neighbours.

They got me a beautiful fascinator hat as a present and I also got them a whole bunch of different gifts, both practical and nice.

I wore a sparkly pink dress and pantyhose with sparkly pink butterflies. Actually those pantyhose were a gift from one of the fans of this site!

A Touching Twitter Story – Lost Cat Found

Dear friends, I thought that this would be a perfect story to share just in time for Christmas.  This simple story is a “Love thy Neighbour” reminder for the upcoming year.

I think that this Christmas is going to be like no other for Kris Hyatt, a Calgary home staging designer.  Her cat Zoey went missing and I somehow found out about this on twitter and completely tuned in.  I checked every day, retweeted all the photos, and hoped for the best.

Kris reported her pet missing to local shelters, pet clinics, animal services and whatever else she could think of.   She even mentioned on twitter that even the mayor got informed.  Kind volunteers helped to search the area and there were even phone calls about sightings.

It was such a phone call that helped to find Zoey.  Kris got a sighting call and right away went to check the bin where she found her cat looking for food.  Even though skinny and dirty, the cat was back home safely after being missing for almost 2 months.

If it wouldn’t be for this determined cat owner combined with such support from her community, this story most likely wouldn’t have a happy ending.

In the light of this story I encourage you to do something selfless and caring this Christmas for your neighbour or your community.

P.S. If you live in Calgary, please follow Kris Hyatt on Twitter.

Pantyhose Models from WamInStyle and Holiday Greetings

Written by Jessica

My friends, if you like to see some photos of pantyhose models, I recommend to visit WamInStyle website.  I even had a pleasure of meeting them this summer when I was visiting Russian and we even collaborated on a photoshoot.

Their main theme is wetlook – it’s a fun of doing something that your mother told you to never do, i.e. get your fancy clothes wet.  Their models can walk into a fountain or jump into a river during their photoshoots.  Having said that, they absolutely love pantyhose and stockings, so majority of their shoots don’t go without some kind of hosiery involved.

There is currently a special on subscription to WamInStyle.  Their pantyhose models are just divine, up for any kind of play!

Also, to my knowledge, they accept requests from their members and even non-members who are interested in a specific photoshoot.

What is the most non-traditional gift that you have ever received?

My parents keep on asking me what I want to get as a present.  It’s a tough one.  Most of the time they are completely out of ideas.  It gets to a point that I either need to tell them what I need and be very specific, otherwise they will get something completely useless to me.

This year things worked out well.  I wanted to take a computer course for a long time already, so I told my parents that they can just cover the cost of the course as a present for me.  I’m very happy and excited about this, I signed up today.

Maybe this is not the main stream type of gift, but for sure I won’t forget it and it might make a big difference in the long run.

Would you ever consider sending your friend or relative for a course as a present?

Happy Holidays from Fantasy Stockings

My dear hosiery enthusiasts!  I wish you a great holiday season and an opportunity to find some calm time to make goals for the next year.  Have a good one!
